Bobby Says: Widow Jane has become one of my favorite blenders in the whiskey world because they consistently find a way to make older bourbon feel alive instead of over-oaked. The Vaults is a perfect example. This inaugural release is built around 15-year-old bourbon and bottled at 99 proof (49.5% ABV), striking a balance that lets every layer shine. It is rich, elegant, and incredibly approachable for a whiskey of this age. This is the kind of bottle that reminds you great blending is every bit as important as great distilling.

On the nose, you'll find dark caramel, vanilla bean, toasted oak, maple syrup, dried cherries, and roasted pecans with touches of baking spice and leather. The first sip brings waves of brown sugar, toffee, dark chocolate, candied orange peel, and cinnamon before settling into seasoned oak, cocoa, and a touch of tobacco on the finish. Despite spending 15 years in the barrel, the oak never overpowers the whiskey. Everything stays beautifully balanced from start to finish, making this one of those pours you'll want to savor long after the reveal.
